教师 members offer research opportunities on campus and 与 community partners, and can help you secure internships 与 national research institutions. 这不是 unusual for our students to present research findings or even to have work published. Your coursework culminates 与 the senior capstone experience, a research project that demonstrates mastery of your discipline and your skills as a scientific investigator.
Academic 部门
的 生物学 Department offers a major designed to help students develop a strong and broad background in 生物 科学. Students may choose an area of emphasis while earning their B.S. 在生物学中 that provides more in-depth coursework in one of three areas: Biochemistry/Molecular 生物学 & 传染性 Disease, Ecology & 进化 or Physiology & Organismal 生物学.
的 化学 Department offers two programs leading to the Bachelor of Science degree in 化学: a non-ACS Certified 化学 major and an ACS Certified 化学 major. In addition, students 可选择 specialize their chemistry major by focusing their elective coursework and Senior Capstone Experience in one of four areas of emphasis offered by the department: Organic & Medicinal 化学, Greener Materials Science, Physical & Instrumental 化学, or Biophysics & 生物 化学.
Two majors are available to students through the Department of Environmental Science and Studies. Students can pursue an environmental 科学 主要(B.S.) or an environmental studies 主要(B.A.) majors are grounded in an interdisciplinary course of study which prepares students to critically analyze and investigate solutions to regional and global environmental issues, whether it is the revival of a depleted fishery, the fate of toxics, land use management in the Chesapeake Bay watershed, world population concerns, loss of biodiversity, or climatic changes. 的 environmental 科学 major 专注于 interdisciplinary scientific study of the environment, while the environmental studies major is broader in perspective and draws in numerous courses in the humanities and the social 科学, as well as the natural 科学.
的 Mathematics and Computer Science Department offers majors and minors in Math and Computer Science, as well as joint minors in Information Systems and Data Analytics 与 the Business Department.
的 物理 Department offers a Bachelor of Science in 物理 and a Minor in 物理. Washington College’s Combined Plan Program 与 Columbia University allows students to obtain dual degrees in 物理 and Engineering, 与 the opportunity to specialize in more than ten different engineering fields.
的 心理学 Department offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in experimental psychology, as well as two specialized programs: a Bachelor of Arts concentration in clinical/counseling and a Bachelor of Science concentration in behavioral neuro科学.
